Gunzey’s Hot Sausage- Midway
Hot Sausage - 10/10. The best I’ve ever had
Sweet Pickins Roasted Sweet Corn - 2nd Street (Bend of the race track by the rides)
Apple Cider Slushie: 10/10
This year, they’ve introduced Apple Cider Slushies and it was honestly perfect! Not overly tart, and not overly sweet.
McCormick’s Homemade Soup - 4th St. and C Ave.
Beef Vegetable 8/10
Might be the best at the fair since Bissinger’s soups decided to drop out.
Marchiano’s - Straight ahead when entering gate 2
Mountain Fries 8.5/10
This used to be Laubach’s and were taken over by Marchiano’s, the stand next door. They must have given them the recipes because these taste the same as they always have, but may be a little more salty. Laubach’s still have their other location by the grand stand.
Vesuvio’s Pizzeria - 5th St. & B Ave.
Pepperoni Pizza: 8.5/10
Might be the best at the fair. Right around the corner from Grottos.
R Bar & Grill - 12th St. NE Extension
Hot Wings: 5/10
The wings themselves were good, but the sauce as like spicy ketchup. I’d try them again, but I’d get a different sauce.
Hewlett’s Hot Sausage - 2nd St. and various other locations
Hot Sausage Sandwich: 8.5/10
This used to be my favorite until I had Gunzey’s. I’m not sure, but it seems like they upgraded the bun or it was just spot on today, but it was pretty good. I have always thought this location by the grand stand is the best.
